You will get fit using at-home workout DVDs and the Fit and Fabulous book, but to really take your workout to the next level you need a trainer. Trainers help you get better and faster results. They customize a workout just for you. Let me share how I learned the value of a trainer.
When I first started T-Tapp, I used the Basic Workout Plus to lose two sizes in just about a month, just like Teresa’s book Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes says. I was quite pleased with my results! Even more, I loved that I was able to get fit at home and in fifteen minutes a day! I bought more T-Tapp DVDs – the Total Workout, Step Away The Inches, and Hit The Floor. Those worked for my first couple of years of T-Tapping. Then a T-Tapp trainer came to Nashville. I went to her clinic in early 2007. I was so excited! I thought this would be a cinch. Since I had been T-Tapping since 2004 and was thinking about becoming a trainer myself, she even said I could help her spot form with the other students. How fun this was going to be!
Even though I was getting good results doing T-Tapp on my own, my experience at the clinic was eye-opening. I thought I had good form. I thought I knew what I was doing. Let’s just say that I had a whole new appreciation for the T-Tapp workout after the clinic. I definitely felt more muscle activation and cardio than I had felt working out on my own. I discovered muscles I didn’t even know I had! Though I didn’t measure before the event, my clothes felt looser for days afterwards. That’s when I learned the true power of the T-Tapp workout. I became even more determined to learn as much as I could and to become a T-Tapp Trainer, which I did in October of the same year.
Why do you need a trainer?
• If you’re working out and not getting results as fast as you want, a trainer can help you tweak your form to your achieve your goals. Each person has his/her own level of flexibility and ability. A trainer helps you find the workout plan that works for your fitness goals.
• If you have an injury or health condition, a trainer helps you modify the workout just for you. T-Tapp is a rehabilitative workout and can be done by anyone at any age and any fitness level. Modifications can be made for knee injuries, rotator cuff problems, or even during and after pregnancy. A trainer works with your individual situation and customizes the workout just for you.
• To develop good habits from the beginning, a trainer gets you started on the right foot, so to speak, and keep you from developing bad habits. It’s best (and easier) to learn the right way to do a move than to have to correct the wrong pattern later.
• If you want coaching and support to make sure you do your workouts, a trainer can keep you on track to reach your goals. A trainer wants you to succeed. A trainer knows the possible pitfalls and can help you navigate around them. It’s always helpful having someone in your corner cheering you on and keeping you focused on what you need to do to get what you want.
Make an investment in yourself, your health and wellness and talk with a trainer if you are not happy with the results you are getting on your own. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help from a qualified professional. In fact, it’s a sign of wisdom and maturity to recognize when you need to ask for help. A trainer is your coach, your cheerleader, and committed to seeing you achieve the results you want. As a trainer myself, there’s nothing more satisfying than to see a client reach his/her goals and feel better about themselves than they ever have!
